To commemorate the 200th anniversary of Wanstead Parish Church, I wrote a history of this North East London parish. Patricia Wilkinson contributed sections on the Church School and buildings. This was the first time that the archives of Wanstead, in the Essex Record Office, had been examined.
Do take time to look at the book available below, a scan of the original from 1991, currently out of print. Wanstead has a remarkable history, with royal associations, boasting a country estate - now the extensive parkland - with a house more splendid than Blenheim. One of Dowland's songs from around 1600 speaks of the delights of its woods.
